Dr. Platt uses a holistic and transpersonal approach to helping people, always seeking to work with the mind-body model. She works with children, adolescents and adults (individuals and couples regardless of sexual orientation), who may be experiencing a variety of emotional, mental and/or physical problems.
In addition to being a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Platt is also a Nurse Practitioner with many years of health-care experience specializing in women’s health, infertility, menopause, HIV and AIDS, chronic pain, and the effects of illness and stress on mental and physical health.
Practical approaches to treatment include short-term solution-oriented therapies, medication consultation with clients (and their physicians if needed) and long-term, in-depth therapy when indicated. Areas of expertise include treatment of depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders (OCD, social anxiety, panic, sleep difficulties), relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, work and career issues and facing the transitions and changes inevitable in life.
Through the use of various modalities including EMDR, mindfulness training and stress management techniques, Dr. Platt helps people struggling with trauma, bereavement, acculturation issues and disordered eating, always seeking to help foster an atmosphere of safety and compassion, encouraging transformation and joyful growth.
